It is the total amount of mobile charged ions (minerals, salts & metals) dissolved in a given volume of water. TDS is expressed in parts per million (PPM) eg: 1ppm is 1mg of a mineral in 1million grams of water. TDS readings helps growers know the density of nutrients in their solution.
